Due to the high altitude, low air pressure, and low boiling point in Tibet, the water temperature is only above 80 degrees Celsius even if the fire is high. Therefore, a good pressure cooker is an essential cooking utensil for the masses.

In order to better meet the needs of the masses, since 2022, the Tibet Autonomous Region Economic and Information Technology Department has cooperated with relevant domestic leading cookware companies to develop 14 multifunctional series cookware products suitable for plateau areas in 3 months, and applied for 18 patents.

In 2022, Tibet Shangchu Cookware Technology Co., Ltd., the first company in Tibet to produce plateau multifunctional series cookware, will settle in the Lhasa Economic and Technological Development Zone. The company covers an area of more than 13,000 square meters, with a total investment of 40 million yuan. At present, 7 production lines have been built, with an annual production capacity of 1 million plateau multifunctional pressure cookers.

In order to let the masses understand the cooking effect of plateau multifunctional series cookware, Tibet Shangchu Cookware Technology Co., Ltd. selected a village in each of Nagqu and Shigatse to distribute pressure cookers to the villagers for free. “The newly released pressure cooker can not only cook noodles and rice, but also stew meat.” Tsering Wangga, a herdsman in Zhongba County, Shigatse City, said that since he received the new pressure cooker, he has never used the old one. There are more patterns than in the past, and the taste is better.

In an experience store located in the center of Lhasa, Tibet, there are a series of highland multifunctional cooking utensils such as pressure cookers, frying pans, and teapots, and there is an endless stream of citizens who come to experience them. “Compared with the old-fashioned pressure cooker, the plateau multi-functional pressure cooker is easy to operate and the material is good.” Citizen Raba Dolma said.

The development and promotion of multifunctional cookers suitable for plateau areas is a livelihood project promoted by the Tibet Autonomous Region government. Guo Xiang, director of the Economic and Information Technology Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, said that Tibet will build a modern cookware industry system with distinctive features, advanced technology, and outstanding brands by extending the industrial development chain and deepening industrial development exchanges and cooperation, so as to improve the lives of people of all ethnic groups on the plateau. quality.
