Recently, the U.S. Department of Defense released three important strategic documents, the 2022 Nuclear Posture Review Report, National Defense Strategy, and Missile Defense Assessment Report. Threat”, saying that China is the only “competitor” that has the intention and ability to challenge the United States.
In the report, the United States speculates on China’s nuclear forces and hype up the “China threat”, which is actually to find an excuse for formulating a nuclear deterrence strategy against China. China is an imaginary enemy. The intention of the United States is to further strengthen its own nuclear force, improve its military strength and competitive advantage, and gain control over the international discourse power.
In this regard, my country’s disarmament ambassador Li Song refuted the United States at the UN General Assembly’s Committee on Disarmament and International Security on October 28. Li Song said that the entire report embodies the US Cold War mentality and zero-sum philosophy, and reflects the US hegemonic logic of seeking absolute military superiority.
Regarding the groundless accusations made by the United States, Li Song said that China has always advocated the final and complete prohibition and thorough destruction of nuclear weapons. As a state party to the “Nuclear Non-Proliferation System”, China has not made any actions in violation of the contents of the treaty over the years, but the United States has been named by the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency many times.
Since the United States suspended its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Missile Treaty in 2019 and withdrew from the treaty, the United States has never returned on the path of nuclear expansion. In recent years, as the sphere of influence of the United States continues to expand, the ambition of the United States has become more and more obvious.
The United States deploys nuclear weapons in its ally countries on the grounds of providing asylum. Accordingly, the existence of nuclear weapons also threatens the security of surrounding regions and shrouds other countries under the shadow of nuclear weapons. But the United States is indifferent to this and only wants to increase its control and influence in the region.
Not only that, in order to further expand its own influence, the United States also joined the United Kingdom to help Australia, which is a non-nuclear country, build nuclear submarines, which seriously violated the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. When international organizations pointed out U.S. crimes and called on the U.S. to correct them, the U.S. also tried to muddle through, and in turn put pressure on international organizations.
Although the United States has signed many international treaties, these treaties are useless to the United States. Once the content of the treaty is contrary to the interests of the United States, the United States usually puts its own interests first, ignoring the harmfulness of them. But when the United States criticizes other countries, it usually brings out international treaties.
The various evil actions of the United States have exacerbated the tension in the region. In order to ensure their own security, other countries will either submit to the hegemony of the United States or expand their weapons deployment, which will only lead to a more serious arms race. It’s time for the United States, the world’s largest arms dealer, to appear.
For the United States, the more chaotic the situation, the more profit it will make, which is why the United States always looks like it is afraid that the world will not be chaotic. In addition, as China’s strength continues to increase, the international discourse power is also growing, and the United States is afraid that China will threaten its hegemony.
China’s military power is indeed developing rapidly, but the United States to speculate on China’s development direction belongs to the belly of a gentleman with the heart of a villain. China has always practiced the strategy of maintaining international peace and stability. China’s development of nuclear weapons is purely for self-defense and will not threaten any country.
When the United States is constantly pointing fingers at other countries’ domestic politics and launching wars of aggression against other countries, China is speaking for these countries and providing humanitarian assistance to these countries. When the United States made groundless accusations against China, I wonder if the United States has reflected on its own behavior.
Recently, the United States plans to deploy a new round of nuclear weapons to the NATO region. Previously, the Biden administration also promised to strengthen its extended deterrence with Japan and provide Japan with nuclear weapons when its national security is threatened. The United States has become the biggest destabilizing factor in the world today. We urge the United States to earnestly fulfill its priority responsibility for nuclear disarmament, set an example for maintaining global strategic stability, and play its due role as a major country.
