At around 5 a.m. on May 26, the owner of a crocodile farm in Siem Reap slipped and fell into a crocodile pond, and was bitten to death by many crocodiles.
The deceased was 70 years old this year and was the chairman of the Siem Reap Provincial Crocodile Association. The deceased professionally engaged in crocodile farming. There were more than 20 pools in his home, and there were about 1,000 crocodiles.
Before the incident, the deceased and his wife were walking around the crocodile pond as usual. Before long, the wife went to rest first, leaving only the deceased.
Later, the deceased took a bamboo pole to poke the crocodile, but the crocodile bit off the bamboo pole, causing the deceased to slip and fall into the crocodile pool.
After falling into the pool, he was bitten by the crocodile and died on the spot. The deceased’s arms were broken by the crocodile, his abdomen was torn and his head was bitten by the crocodile.
After the nearby people found out, they beat and drove the crocodiles away with wooden sticks, and then snatched the dead body back from the crocodiles.
There have also been incidents of crocodile wounding in Cambodia before.
In April 2022, in Siem Reap Province, a crocodile owner accidentally fell into a crocodile pond and was bitten by a crocodile, causing serious injuries in many places all over his body.
In 2019, also in Siem Reap Province, a 2-year-old girl fell into her own crocodile pond and was bitten and eaten by the crocodiles. When she was rescued, only one head remained, and the rest was swallowed by the crocodiles Belly.
