IMAX theater 4 days 161 million yuan, the second largest in the history of the Spring Festival

The Chinese New Year holiday movie market continues to be booming. IMAX China theaters achieved 161 million yuan in the first four days of the Spring Festival, an increase of 42% over the same period last year, setting a record for the second highest box office in the company’s Spring Festival history. Among them, the box office on the third and fourth day of the Lunar New Year broke historical records. As of now, IMAX’s market share during the Spring Festival period has reached 3.5%, an increase of 86.3% over the same period last year.

The 2023 Spring Festival can be regarded as one of the Spring Festival files with the strongest film content and the most diverse types in recent years. At present, four of the top five films in the total box office have landed in IMAX theaters, including “The Wandering Earth 2”, “Man Jianghong”, “Deep Sea” and “No Name” specially shot in IMAX.

IMAX also helped “The Wandering Earth 2” land on 31 IMAX theaters in North America on January 22, earning a total of 340,000 US dollars in three days.

In addition, “Avatar: The Way of Water” is also continuing to be released. The IMAX box office of the film in mainland China has reached 353 million yuan, making it the second highest-grossing film in the history of IMAX in mainland China.
