Recently, the European Parliament passed a new regulation requiring that from the end of 2024, all new portable smart devices such as mobile phones and tablets use the USB Type-C charging interface. It is very likely that Apple will switch the iPhone’s Lightning charging port to USB Type-C starting with the iPhone 15 in 2023. So the question is, why does the EU want to unify the charging interface, and how has the USB interface developed step by step so far?
