League of Legends turns 13 today

October 28, 2022 (October 27, U.S. time) is the 13th anniversary of League of Legends. Before you know it, this game has been with you for so long. Riot Games was established in September 2006 and focuses on the research and development of League of Legends. They received investment from Tencent in 2008 and granted Tencent the right to operate the national server. On April 10, 2009, League of Legends had its first closed beta in North America with only 17 heroes.

On October 27, 2009, League of Legends started the official public beta of the US server, and the number of available heroes was increased to 40. In the following years, Riot Games launched other servers one after another, allowing League of Legends to gradually go global and become one of the most popular online games in the world. The League of Legends national server was launched on September 22, 2011, and has been in operation for more than 11 years. At present, there are 161 heroes in the game, four times the number when the US server was in the public beta.

S12 opening ceremony has a live version of “The Call”

On October 28th, the music team 2WEI announced that they will perform “The Call” at the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Finals, which is the season theme song produced by 2WEI for League of Legends in January this year. Riot Games announced the guest list for the opening ceremony of S12 yesterday, confirming the performances of Li Nacha and Wang Jiaer, but did not announce the 2WEI track. 2WEI confirmed their performance project on their own Twitter, and singer Edda Hayes also confirmed that he will go to the finals in San Francisco.

The 2WEI music team was formed in 2016, but a lot of their music has already been selected for episodes in Hollywood movie trailers, and it’s not the first time they’ve teamed up with Riot Games. In 2020, 2WEI produced the season theme song “Warrior” for League of Legends, and in 2021, it produced the theme song of the new agent KAY/O for VALORANT, and this year’s “Call” is the third collaborative song. It seems that singing the season’s theme song at the opening ceremony every year has become a traditional program for the global finals.

Big Brother may return to LCS next year

On October 28, Wooloo, a well-known e-sports reporter, brought a heavy revelation on Twitter. He said that Doublelift may return to the LCS arena next year. “The latest news is that Doublelift may return to the professional game next year. According to the information disclosed by the informant, the former professional player has talked with a number of LCS teams. But nothing has been confirmed yet.” Doublelift at the 2020 Global Headquarters After the final, he retired with his old teammate Bjergsen, who also won the LCS Summer Championship before retiring. This year, Bjergsen chose to come back and almost reached the global finals. It seems that the big brother is also itching to return to the LCS.

Most players are optimistic about T1 and GEN promotion

As the semi-final stage of the 2022 Global Finals is approaching, Riot Games has opened the quiz for follow-up events. Only 8 players remain in this year’s quiz, and their semi-final quiz results are exactly the same. T1 and GEN advanced to the finals stage. After all, among these 8 players, 4 of them have Korean IDs and are obviously fans of the LCK team. They are optimistic about T1 defeating JDG. Since DRX has never won GEN in this year’s LCK league, they don’t think DRX can continue to be a dark horse to the end. If JDG or DRX win the game, no one will be able to win the ultimate skin prize in this year’s quiz.
