On October 28, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced that Beijing Benz will expand the recall of some EQA, EQB and EQC electric vehicles.
This recall is mainly for some EQC electric vehicles with production dates between December 5, 2019 and September 17, 2022, totaling 3,345 units; and production dates between February 11, 2020 and October 10, 2022 Part of the EQA and EQB electric vehicles, a total of 8078. A total of 11,400 vehicles were recalled.
Beijing Benz explained that due to the manufacturing deviation of the electric drive module, the cooling system in the electric drive module of some vehicles within the scope of this recall may have insufficient sealing, resulting in coolant leakage. If the coolant slightly seeps into the motor, the insulation resistance value of the high-voltage system may be reduced after long-term use, resulting in the vehicle not starting. In addition, under extreme conditions, the output power of the electric drive module of the vehicle will be reduced, posing a safety hazard.
It is reported that the electric drive modules involved in this recall are produced by overseas factories of relevant suppliers.
It is worth noting that this is the second large-scale recall of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles after the recall in February this year.
