FAW-Volkswagen and Beijing Benz Announce the Recall of Tens of Thousands of Defective Cars

  China News Service, Beijing, October 28 (Liu Wenwen) China’s State Administration for Market Regulation reported on the 28th that recently, FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. and Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. In accordance with the requirements of the Implementation Measures for the Recall Management Regulations, the defective vehicle recall plan was filed with it.

  FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. has decided to recall 18,357 imported Audi Q7 and Q8 series vehicles equipped with V6 gasoline engines from June 13, 2019 to January 29, 2021, starting from December 26, 2022.

  The metal parts of the fuel pump in the fuel tank of some vehicles within the scope of this recall may be broken due to rigidity problems, and the fragments may damage the sealing membrane in the fuel pump. This will cause the fuel pump to pump oil unevenly or fail to pump oil, causing the engine to run erratically and/or the engine to fail to start. In extreme cases, the engine may stall and power is interrupted during driving, posing a potential safety hazard.

  Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. has decided to expand the recall of some EQC electric vehicles with production dates from December 5, 2019 to September 17, 2022, starting from December 15, 2022, with a total of 3,345 vehicles. From February 1, 2023, an expanded recall of some EQA and EQB electric vehicles with production dates between February 11, 2020 and October 10, 2022, totaling 8,078 vehicles.

  It is understood that due to the manufacturing deviation of the electric drive module, the cooling system in the electric drive module of some vehicles within the scope of this recall may have insufficient sealing, resulting in coolant leakage. If the coolant slightly seeps into the motor, the insulation resistance value of the high-voltage system may be reduced after long-term use, resulting in the vehicle not starting. In addition, under extreme conditions, the output power of the electric drive module of the vehicle will be reduced, posing a safety hazard. (Finish)
