Recently, IDC, a well-known market research organization, released its China smartphone market report for the third quarter of 2022.
According to the report, China’s smartphone shipments in the third quarter were approximately 71.13 million units, down 11.9% year-on-year, and the market remained sluggish. Specific to each manufacturer, vivo has returned to the top position in the domestic smartphone market shipments with a 20.0% market share with 14.2 million units shipped. In the case of “slow” overall new phone release this year, vivo has achieved good market performance with its steady product strategy and the effect of star items such as the X80 series. Glory, which developed rapidly after independence, came in second with 12.7 million units. OPPO ranked third with 11.6 million units shipped and a market share of 16.3%. Apple shipped 10.8 million units, ranking fourth with a market share of 15.1%, and was the only brand among the major mainstream brands that saw year-on-year growth in shipments. Xiaomi’s shipments dropped to 9 million units, ranking fifth.
In recent years, smartphone product strength has not improved significantly, its attractiveness has decreased, and the uncertain economic outlook on a global scale is the main reason for the continuous decline in smartphone shipments.
