“Call of Duty 19” PS5 disc has only 70MB of data and has to be downloaded online
More and more people are choosing to buy games in digital stores, but some people prefer to buy physical copies of games because owning the disc means you can play the game without downloading a lot of data. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s disc, with only 70MB of data on the PS5 version disc, possibly some kind of activation key and DRM.
Some players who got the PS5 version of Call of Duty 19 CD ahead of time confirmed that after inserting the CD into the PS5, only 70MB of data was installed. This means that even if you own the disc, you will need an internet connection to download the game.
When you try to run the disc without downloading anything, players are prompted to connect to the PlayStation Network and download an update that will allow them to play. This makes buying discs pointless.
It is worth noting that players have to download the 40GB first day update before playing the game, which makes Call of Duty 19 even more bulky. According to reports, the current volume of the work is about 152GB in size.
It’s not known if the same is true for the Xbox version of the disc, but it’s likely that it also only contains license data, and players won’t be able to play the game directly without an internet connection.
