Audi Q7, Q8 and Mercedes-Benz EQ electric range recalled

A few days ago, FAW-Volkswagen and Beijing Benz issued a recall plan. The two recalled imported Audi Q7, Q8 and Mercedes-Benz EQA, EQB, and EQC electric models respectively. Audi and Mercedes-Benz jointly swept the car recall this week.

The imported Audi Q7 and Q8 are Audi’s ceiling-level SUVs, which adopted the latest family-style design language at that time. The interior was equipped with three screens, and the power was powered by 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI engines, of which the 45 TFSI model was equipped with a 2.0T inline four-cylinder Engine, the 55 TFSI model is equipped with a 3.0T V6 engine, standard 48V mild hybrid system, matched with an 8-speed manual transmission, and is equipped with Audi’s housekeeping skill – quattro four-wheel drive system.

The 55 TFSI model is also the recalled model in this batch. It is equipped with a V6 gasoline engine. Due to the rigidity problem, the metal parts of the fuel pump in the fuel tank may be broken, which may cause the engine to fail to start, power interruption and flameout. The fuel version of the model has higher requirements on engine components, and once there is a problem, there will be safety hazards.

Since the beginning of this year, there have been 7 recall plans for Audi series models. Except for the Audi A7L, all other models are imported models, and the cumulative number of recalls exceeds 510,000. Affected by the intelligence and electrification of automobiles, the new forces of car-making are constantly fighting, BYD and Tesla are under pressure, and luxury brands such as Audi are also facing the crisis of turning around as an elephant.

As an old enemy of Audi, Mercedes-Benz once again appeared in the recall team. It refused to complete the statistics. The Mercedes-Benz series models have been published in the recall journal for three consecutive issues, and the cumulative number of recalls has exceeded 14 times. However, the scale of each recall is small, and the number of recalled vehicles is less than 160,000 vehicles, more frequent than Audi, but mostly on a small scale.

This time, Beijing Benz recalled three models, all of which are electrified models, namely EQA, EQB and EQC, with a total recall of 18,182 vehicles. Among them, the EQC recall is a change in the recall plan released on February 18.

On February 18 this year, due to the manufacturing deviation of the electric drive module, there may be insufficient sealing of the cooling system in the electric drive module of the vehicle, resulting in leakage of coolant. Beijing Benz plans to recall 10,142 EQC models to replace the improved electric drive module assembly to eliminate safety hazards.

Although Mercedes-Benz claims that this is a change in the measures of the recall activity released on February 18, in fact, the two activities have not changed, both of which are free replacement of the improved electric drive module assembly. However, the scope of the recall has been expanded to three models of EQA, EQB and EQC, covering almost all Mercedes-Benz electric models.

It can be seen that even luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz will make some low-level mistakes in the face of electrification and intelligence. The newly launched EQ series has begun to join the recall team, so consumers no longer look up to these luxury brands. , In terms of electrification and hybridization, domestic brands are decisively selected, such as Wenjie, BYD, and Jikr, which are sought after by the market.
