200 million pixels, 210W fast charge, Redmi has also started to explore?

In this issue, we will take you to experience the two new models of the Redmi Note 12 series, of which we will focus most of the pages on the “Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition” product.

Let’s take a look at the performance of Redmi’s world premiere Samsung 200 million pixels and 210W fast charging? Without further ado, let’s start now.

In terms of appearance, the Note 12 Pro in our hands is the white version. One thing to say, the white color of the real phone is better than what we expected before. The whole phone is a relatively square shape, the frontal visual effect is also good, and the chin will not appear too broad.

From the side, this product really gave me a feeling of Xiaomi Mi 2 back then. Compared with the K50, although it is a plastic middle frame, the texture of the Note 12 Pro is better than that of the K50. At least this white version does not feel cheap.

The Note 12 Discovery Edition will be quite different from the Note 12 Pro in terms of feel. The body thickness of the Discovery Edition will be thicker, and the back edge is also curved. The feeling of this product is close to the K50. of.

One of the two main selling points of the Note 12 Discovery Edition this time is the 210W fast charge, which officially claims to charge a 4,300mAh battery in 9 minutes.

We also did our own tests. The room temperature was 26°C, and the phone started to charge from 1% of the battery, 60% in 4 minutes and 38 seconds, 90% in 8 minutes, and 9 minutes and 42 seconds until the phone’s battery displayed 100%.

The measured performance is not much different from the official performance, and it is quite good that a model at this price can have such a top-level fast charging performance.

In terms of performance, we also tested the Note 12 Discovery Edition. The room temperature is 26°C, which is still the same.

Peace Elite turned on the 90-frame option. After half an hour of gaming, the average frame rate was 88.4 frames and the maximum temperature was 40.5°C.

The Honor of Kings also enables the 90-frame option, with an average frame rate of 89.2 frames in half an hour and a maximum temperature of 38.5°C. It can be seen that the Dimensity 1080 is indeed under low pressure when dealing with low-to-medium load games, and the temperature control is also very good.

However, when it came to Yuanshen, who was more stressed, there was good news and bad news after testing. The good news is that Redmi did not reduce the resolution after running the whole process. The bad news is that after half an hour of gaming, the average frame rate is only 35.2 frames, and the fluctuation of the frame rate curve is still relatively large.

The highest temperature tested in the whole process is only 41.3℃. We speculate that this product still has some optimization problems. It is very likely that the temperature control card of the system is too dead. Otherwise, relying on the heat dissipation material of this product, with MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 1080 will theoretically perform better than the current one.

I hope that Redmi can optimize it as soon as possible in the follow-up and release the temperature control a little bit. This product may also meet the requirements of mobile game enthusiasts.

In the video part, in fact, I didn’t pay much attention to the video performance of most Redmi models before.

Because for the models in this price range, what everyone needs is the overall configuration, performance, cost-effectiveness, etc. If the screen can be better, it will be a god, and the image is really expensive to pile up, and it is meaningless. big.

But this time, the Note 12 Discovery Edition chose the world’s premiere Samsung’s latest 200-megapixel sensor HPX, and the Note 12 Pro also used the Sony IMX 766. Since Redmi’s imaging hardware has improved so much this time, we must have a good experience.

To be honest, the mobile phone upgrade to 200 million pixels is definitely a gimmick in most cases, and we will not discuss anything in depth about 200 million pixels.

How well a mobile phone imaging system performs, in the final analysis, depends on the actual camera experience? How is the tone of the photo? Can you make it easier for users to take good-looking photos? These estimates will also be what most ordinary consumers care about most.

Returning to the actual experience, in the default camera interface, the Note 12 Explorer Edition does not directly call the point-to-point 200 million pixels. The solution adopted by Redmi is 16-in-1 to output photos with 12.5 million pixels.

Most of our tests also use this default mode, which is closer to the daily usage habits of most real consumers.

However, we still took a few sets of 50-megapixel and 200-megapixel comparisons. Zooming in and comparing can indeed see some advantages of 200 million pixels in terms of resolution. I really don’t recommend that you use this mode on a daily basis. It’s simply unnecessary. For daily use, 12.5-megapixel photos are enough.

This time, the photo experience of Redmi is not bad. After pressing the shutter, the imaging is relatively fast, and there is no obvious waiting time. This praise, I feel that after Xiaomi started to focus on the photo experience this year, the progress is indeed obvious.

In terms of imaging quality, after taking some proofs for comparison, I personally feel that compared with the previous products of Redmi, there is indeed progress, but there are indeed some areas that need to be optimized in the first version of the system.

First of all, the whole photo-taking experience has become better, coupled with a relatively stable white balance, the filming rate of the exploration version is indeed much higher, the probability of taking good photos during the day is higher, and the night scene performance of the main camera can finally be seen. The overall purity, highlight suppression and glare control are all good. Although it is still incomparable with the top flagship, but considering the price of this product, it is really good.

During testing, we also found two problems with this product.

First, Redmi’s current optimization of noise is not in place, we guess it is a problem in the pixel synthesis process.

Second, when shooting at night, the picture will be a little reddish in dark light scenes, and this part needs to be optimized in the future.

In addition, Redmi has also matched several film filters this time, which have been specially optimized in terms of color, grain, and vignetting. Here are a few sets of proofs for you to match with the newly added photo frame. , does have a bit of an internal taste.

For the imaging capabilities of the Note 12 Explorer Edition, I still can’t give a high evaluation, but I think it’s okay to call this product the beginning of Redmi’s emphasis on imaging.

Among them, no matter from the effect or the attitude, you can see the willingness of Redmi to start the image. In fact, for cost-effective models, we do not care about the image aspect, but we did not have this ability before.

I definitely won’t expect how much Redmi can make in the video in the future, this is really unrealistic.

However, this type of cost-effective model has a very wide audience. If the image performance can be enhanced without affecting the cost-effective performance of the whole machine, it will definitely not hurt consumers. If there is a system update in a while, we will look at it again. See if there is any progress in the image of this product.

As for the configuration of other aspects of this product, we have compiled a detailed list for you, which you can save and view.

This issue is almost coming to an end. After the whole experience, I can still feel the strong red rice wind of these two products, but this time, red rice is trying to explore other things in addition to the large quantity. thing.

Comparing the two products, to be honest, I would recommend the Note 12 Pro more. It has a better appearance, a larger battery, and the main camera has also been upgraded to the Sony IMX766. If the price is right, this product is still very fragrant.

We also hope that the first 210W fast charge on the Note 12 Discovery Edition can be used on more models as soon as possible. Although flagship phones will always attract more attention and have more black technologies, cost-effective models will always be purchased by more people.

A change may allow users who cannot afford flagship phones in the short term to experience part of the flagship-level experience, which is really cool for the technology field.
